Today's Scouts
The Scout Association aims to provide to young people between the ages of 6 and 25 an opportunity to belong to the largest and most successful youth organisation in the World. and to take part in a wide range of activities
Working in sections the young people undertake personal and collective activities, appropriate to their age range, which aims to stimulate their development and the role they play within the community. Sections are:
Beaver Scouts 5¾-8 Years Old
Cubs Scouts 8 - 10½ Years Old
Scouts 10½ - 14 Years Old
Explorer Scouts 14 - 18 Years Old
Scout Network 18 - 25 Years Old
Many groups now offer places to both boys and girls. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are generally part of local Scout Groups with Explorer Scouts and the Scout Network working at District/County levels. Young people can join the section appropriate to their age at any time i.e. they can join the Scout Network without being a scout, assuming that there is capacity within that particular group or unit. As a general rule most Beaver Colonies operate a waiting list but places in Scouts are often available 'on demand'.
The movement is always looking for adults to support scouting as leaders or administrators. Any person aged 18 or over can be considered, individual Scout Districts are responsible for the appointment of adults
Please e-mail us with Name & Address details if you have a young person who wishes to join the movement or you are interested in adult leadership. We will arrange for a local representative to contact you.
